Water loves to accumulate on flat surfaces. It especially loves to permeate those surfaces, destroying some of them, like asphalt, over time. If you fail to account for the necessary slope of your driveway or other hard surface, you’re in for a bad time later down the road.
Third Strike: Improper Pouring
You may remember trying to pour from a gallon of milk when you were a kid. Everything is going well and before you know it there’s milk gushing all over the counter and dripping onto the floor. If you are not using a professional asphalt layer, then your pouring job can easily resemble the milk. Improper pouring is the most common mistake, resulting in surfaces with waves and lines.
Fourth And Final: Failing To Compact And Seal The Asphalt

You also want to ensure you properly seal the asphalt once it has been poured and compacted. Otherwise it may degrade much quicker than anticipated thanks to its exposure to the elements.
